Thrissur: Congress president Rahul Gandhi kicked off UDF election campaign by addressing a massive fishermen congress at Thriprayar in Thrissur on Thursday.

Congress president said that the moment his party gets power, a separate minister for fisheries sector would be announced.

Lashing out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi said “ I will say only what can be implemented. I will not give any fake promise like Modiji.’’

Modi has time only to listen to the words of Anil Ambani and Nirav Modi, but he has no time to listen to the fishermen, farmers and other poor sections, Gandhi said.

Referring to China’s veto to the UN move to declare o JeM leader Masood Azhar is a threat to the world, Gandhi said Modi is afraid of China.

Congress president will pay homage to Kripesh and Sarat Lal, the two youth Congress workers hacked to death allegedly by CPM activist at Periya in Kasargod district three weeks ago. He will also meet kin of Kripesh, Sarat Lal and Shuhaib, who was also killed allegedly by CPM nearly a year ago at Mattannur in Kannur.

In the evening, he will address a public meeting in Kozhikode
